The Pokémon TCG turns 30 this year, and the set built around it just had its full product lineup revealed. It's called 30th Celebration, and it lands on 16 September 2026.
The big one for us in the UK: it's the first time a main Pokémon set releases everywhere on the same day. Japan, the US, Europe, all of it, simultaneously. We're not waiting weeks behind Japan for once. Brilliant in theory. The catch is that worldwide demand now hits every retailer at the same moment, so anyone who's lived through a hyped drop knows what that means for stock.
We watch UK retailer stock all day anyway, so here's the rundown on what's coming and, more usefully, how to give yourself a fighting chance of landing it at normal prices.
So what is it?
Think Celebrations from 2021 (the 25th anniversary set), but bigger and more premium. If you remember those Elite Trainer Boxes vanishing in minutes and then doubling in price, you've got the right mental picture.
Every card in the set is foil. Even the energy. Every pack guarantees a Pikachu, and there are 30 different Pikachu illustrations to find, each drawn by a different artist. There's a brand new rarity too — Futuristic Rare — with art by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN, and the first two shown off are Mewtwo and Mew. On top of that you've got 30 classic reprints pulling from across the game's history, each with a little anniversary stamp.
It's a lot of set. Which is exactly why it'll be a nightmare to complete and very easy to overpay for.
What's launching on 16 September
The day-one products:
- Elite Trainer Box — nine packs, a Nidorina promo, plus the usual sleeves, dice and energy
- Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box — the exclusive version, extra packs and two Nidorina promos (one stamped)
- Poster Collection — three packs, a big double-sided poster, Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres promos
- Tech Sticker Collection — three packs, an Alolan Exeggutor or Lucario promo, sticker sheet
- Pokémon ex Box — four packs, a Sylveon ex or Greninja ex promo and oversized card
- Knock Out Collection — two packs, an Eevee promo, a coin
- Premium Deck Set: Espeon & Umbreon — all-foil decks led by Espeon ex and Umbreon ex, with boxes, coins and playmats
More is coming later in the year, so this is the opening wave rather than the full list.
Worth knowing: the booster packs aren't sold on their own. They only come inside these products. So chasing the cards means chasing sealed.
Why this one's going to be a pain to get
A few things working against us at once. The simultaneous global launch means there's no staggered demand to ease the pressure — everyone's buying at once. The all-foil format, the new rarity, and a Base Set Charizard reprint are the kind of thing that sends people a bit mad. And the Celebrations precedent looms over all of it: that set sold out instantly and the collector base has only grown since.
Realistically, launch day will be a scramble, and the early restocks afterwards will be where most people actually get theirs without paying over the odds.
Getting your hands on it
This is the bit we can help with. We track UK retailers and send an alert the second 30th Celebration stock appears, so you're not sat refreshing a dozen tabs hoping to catch it.
Get your alerts set up before launch so you're ready when pre-orders and stock go live. There's a community of UK collectors sharing sightings and drops as they happen, and once you've sorted your own pulls you can list spares or hunt down the cards you still need on the marketplace.
The people who land these things at retail price are nearly always just the ones who got the heads-up first. So get set up early, and good luck — you'll need a bit of it for this one.
